Our Directors bring their vast experience to students!

Blake Minor
Mr. Minor is a native Houstonian having graduated from the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts as well as receiving his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Houston. Mr. Minor has also earned a Masters degree in Education-Administration from Angelo State University, as well as a Masters in Theatre from East Texas A&M. Mr. Minor has traveled all over the world working in theatres from China, to Scotland, to Canada and all over the United States. Mr. Minor has been a Texas Thespians board member since 2017. If you can not find Mr. Minor in a theatre, look to the pitch or the pool where he supports his two amazing daughters. Go Panthers!

Darin Garrett
A native Texan, Mr. Garrett received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, and his Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Houston. He is in his eighth year here at Klein Oak High School and has been teaching for 16 years. He has designed and directed plays at theatres throughout the Houston area. Mr. Garrett is also a proud parent of two exceptional children.

Carey Chuter
Ms. Chuter is thrilled to join the Klein Oak Theatre family! With experience directing everything from high-energy musicals to deeply moving plays, she holds a BFA in Theatre with an emphasis in Musical Theatre and Dramaturgy, and a minor in Music (Vocal Performance). She’s passionate about creating a vibrant, supportive space where students feel empowered to face creative challenges, build confidence, and shine on or off stage. Theatre is a family affair—Ms. Chuter met her husband in their college theatre program, and their son is a teaching artist in Colorado. When she’s got time to relax, Ms. Chuter loves diving into pop culture, sipping coffee/tea, and spending time with JoJo, their rescue staffy with undeniable star quality who might just make a surprise appearance!
